![]() ![]() Have to admit that I'm trying to come up to speed regarding nav controlled by disc. So the dealership gets low marks for reporting that it had no disc, and instructing me to obtain one. I'll peruse other threads which may have some bearing on this, but in the meantime: what about the jury?Ĭlick to expand.Gleaned from another thread concerned with DVD issues, it appears that if there had been no disc, the notification screen should have made specific reference to that - instead of "DVD disc reading error". SO: There must be a DVD inside, the 'open' button works only intermittently, and the disc eject fingers are tired if not worn out. Since the door never did open after multiple pushes of that button, I never even saw that there was a separate 'eject' button inside. ![]() So it appears that a DVD the dealership said wasn't there IS - and the unit will no longer successfully eject it.īacktracking a bit to when I first tried to see if there was indeed a DVD in the unit, (just before I started this inquiry thread, and well before I took it to the dealer): I think I mistakenly thought the OPEN button for the door should have also ejected any disc. On about the fifth push, the ratcheting sound slowed down a bit, like it was getting tired, and then stopped trying. I became a bit concerned when it kept trying repeatedly, and didn't know how to shut it off thought the poor constipated animal was gonna hurt itself. So then I tried the eject button, and I got that ratcheting/clicking sound that I've heard described on other threads ROC where the disc grabbers are no longer working to push the pooch out. I've been involved in audio tech for decades, and knew enough not to force the issue, since - it seemed obvious to me - there likely WAS a DVD in there. Then, (since the dealer said there was no DVD in the unit), I attempted to slide this 2013 job in. Upon attempting to insert it, I needed to push the 'open door' button multiple times before it finally opened. Thanks, McChizzle, for the 2013 update DVD. now comes under scrutiny, and the jury deciding the fate of the nav is still out. The credibility of my local Honda dealer's service dept. ![]()
